Effects of Noise on Wildlife Conference

August 22-23, 2000

Conference Summary
In August 2000, eighty delegates (including speakers, Board members, and staff) attended the Effects of Noise on Wildlife Conference. During the two days, sixteen speakers presented in a variety of areas related to noise and wildlife.

A post-conference session was held and all speakers and Board members were invited to attend. During this session, participants commented on their feelings about the effectiveness of the conference. Overall, the responses were very positive and that the scientific value of the conference was remarkable. Concern was expressed by representatives of the Innu Nation of the lack of involvement of the Innu Elders in the conference. It was also recognized that there was not enough opportunity for interaction and question and answer periods.

A continuation of the networking that has been started by this conference was identified as a priority. A delegate list was put together shortly after the conference ended and was forwarded to participants.

A copy of the proceedings can be obtained from the Publications page.
