Jean Huot




Jean Huot is Professor Emeritus of animal ecology and wildlife management at the Département de Biologie of L'Université Laval, Honorary Member of the Centre d'études nordiques of the same institution and Member Emeritus of the Association des biologistes du Québec. He was vice-president of the Study Commission on the Management of Quebec's Public Forest (2004). He holds a M. Sc. Degree in zoology from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in wildlife management from University of Alaska. He has been involved in research and various activities concerning the conservation and management of wildlife for over 35 years. His research has covered a broad range of interests, including ecology of white-tailed deer, moose, and caribou, effects of forestry practices on wildlife and black bear ecology and conservation. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings and over 100 research reports. He has been a scientific consultant for many government ministries and agencies as well as private companies and conservation groups including : Le Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune, Parks Canada, Canadian Forestry Service, Ducks Unlimited, La Société d'Énergie de la Baie James, Hydro-Québec, and Aboriginal communities.
