The Société de la faune et des parcs du Québec is, within a perspective of sustainable development, to protect the environment and to preserve and develop wildlife and its habitat.

The Act constituting the Société de la faune et des parcs du Québec established its field of action as follows:

  • to preserve biodiversity and ecosystems;
  • to prevent, reduce or suppress contamination of the water, air and soil;
  • to develop and manage fishing, hunting and trapping activities;
  • to create and manage parks, ecological reserves, wildlife reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, outfitters, wildlife management areas and trapping lands; 
  • to preserve threatened and endangered wildlife and plant species; 
  • to develop and perform activities related to the observation and understanding of the natural environment; 
  • to manage the public hydrological domain and water as a natural resource.
